Mid-Century Modern Serpentine Sofa in the Style of Vladimir Kagan

Details

This elegant vintage Serpentine sofa, designed in the style of Vladimir Kagan for Directional, beautifully captures the sculptural sophistication that made Kagan’s work so iconic in mid-century modern design. Known for his fluid silhouettes and architectural approach to furniture, Kagan pioneered organic forms that transformed seating into functional art, an influence clearly reflected in this striking piece. The sofa features a graceful serpentine curved frame that flows effortlessly from one end to the other, creating a visually dynamic profile that looks stunning from every angle. Its sweeping lines and low, sculptural form bring a sense of movement and refinement, making it a natural focal point in any interior. Supporting the curved body are two brass plinth bases, which provide both structural balance and a beautiful contrast to the rich charcoal upholstery. Recently professionally reupholstered by our skilled team, the sofa is presented in a textured fabric that enhances the sculptural contours of the frame while ensuring comfort and durability for everyday use. The warm tone of the brass adds a subtle touch of glamour while emphasizing the sofa’s architectural character. Both cultivated and inviting, this Serpentine sofa effortlessly complements a variety of interiors, from classic mid-century spaces to contemporary homes seeking a bold sculptural centerpiece. With its timeless form, refined materials, and exceptional craftsmanship, this piece offers a perfect blend of comfort, artistry, and collectible design.
