Mid-Century Modern USA-143 Walnut Lounge Chair by Folke Ohlsson for DUX

Details

Swedish modern craftsmanship is beautifully expressed in this model USA-143 lounge chair designed by Folke Ohlsson for DUX during the 1950s. Blending the warmth of Scandinavian design with the timeless appeal of mid-century modern furniture, this iconic lounge chair showcases Ohlsson's talent for creating pieces that are both visually refined and exceptionally comfortable. The sculptural solid oak frame, professionally refinished in a light walnut stain, highlights the wood's natural beauty, while the graceful slatted back and gently tapered armrests demonstrate the meticulous attention to detail that defines the design. Folke Ohlsson played a pivotal role in introducing Scandinavian furniture to the American market, and his collaboration with DUX produced some of the era's most enduring designs. The USA-143 remains one of his signature models, admired for its clean architectural silhouette, inviting proportions, and thoughtful balance of form and function. Its open frame gives the chair a light visual presence while maintaining the durability expected of premium Swedish craftsmanship. Freshly reupholstered in a gray fabric, the generously padded cushions provide exceptional comfort while complementing the warmth of the oak frame. More than seventy years after its introduction, the chair continues to be celebrated for its effortless versatility, making it an outstanding addition to both vintage collections and contemporary interiors.
