Italian Modern Live-Edge Travertine Coffee Table by Stone International

Details

Designed and manufactured in Italy during the 1970s, this rectangular Italian modern live-edge travertine coffee table by Stone International embodies the era's fascination with sculptural natural materials. As Italian designers began transforming marble and travertine into furniture, they redefined luxury by treating stone not just as a building material, but as the centerpiece of modern interiors. Their emphasis on exceptional craftsmanship, refined forms, and premium natural materials established Italy as the world leader in stone furniture, a legacy that continues to influence contemporary design. Expertly handcrafted from solid travertine, the table showcases a beautifully honed top framed by a hand-finished live edge that preserves the stone's organic character. Every slab reveals millions of years of geological history through its subtle veining, fossilization, and warm tonal variations, ensuring that no two examples are ever alike. The substantial pedestal base provides remarkable stability while allowing the thick floating top to command attention from every angle. Produced by Stone International, this table reflects the quality and craftsmanship that made Italian stone furniture internationally admired. Its silhouette allows the extraordinary material to take center stage, demonstrating how thoughtful design and exceptional natural materials can create a piece that feels as relevant today as it did five decades ago.
