Mid-Century Modern Channel Back Swivel Lounge Chairs by Directional

Details

Mid-century modern walnut swivel chairs manufactured by Directional during the 1970s. Beautifully restored, these sculptural lounge chairs showcase the bold yet inviting design language that made Directional one of the defining names in American modern furniture. Expertly reupholstered in a richly textured woven fabric with a custom channel-tufted back, bringing new life to a classic design while honoring the original silhouette. The sweeping barrel form wraps comfortably around the sitter, creating an enveloping seating experience that is as comfortable as it is visually striking. The deeply sculpted channel back radiates outward like a fan, adding depth, texture, and a refined sense of movement to the design. Thick, generously cushioned seats provide exceptional comfort, while the walnut swivel base introduces warmth and allows each chair to rotate a full 360 degrees with ease. This thoughtful combination of sculptural upholstery and exposed walnut creates a beautiful balance between softness and craftsmanship. Founded in the mid-20th century, Directional became known for producing some of the finest American modern furniture, collaborating with celebrated designers while maintaining exceptional manufacturing standards. Their pieces were crafted to complement interiors without sacrificing comfort. Whether admired for their sculptural presence, exceptional craftsmanship, or everyday comfort, these Directional lounge chairs remain a timeless statement of American mid-century design. They offer the rare combination of artistic form, functional design, and lasting quality that continues to resonate with collectors decades later.
