Mid-Century Swedish Leather "Perrot Cage" Swing Chair by Ib Arberg

Details

Step into the world of iconic Scandinavian modernism with this vintage “Perrot Cage” swing chair, designed by Swedish designer Ib Arberg in the 1970s. It is a striking example of sculptural Scandinavian modern design. Both visually captivating and architecturally bold, the chair immediately commands attention in any interior. The design features a dramatic chrome-plated steel cage frame, shaped like an elegant aviary, which suspends the seat to create a subtle floating effect. The geometric structure is beautifully balanced by a solid black metal stand, allowing the chair to function as a freestanding swing while maintaining stability and a strong visual presence. Recently reupholstered in rich premium leather, the generously padded seat and backrest feature classic tufted button detailing, adding texture and depth to the design. The warm leather tone contrasts beautifully with the polished chrome frame, while the sculptural cylindrical leather armrests soften the cage's graphic lines. Bold yet refined, the Perrot Cage chair embodies the experimental spirit of 1970s modern design, when furniture often blurred the line between functional object and art piece. Its airy construction and striking silhouette make it a natural focal point in a modern, mid-century inspired, or contemporary interior. A rare and collectible design, this chair offers a compelling combination of craftsmanship, sculptural form, and iconic 1970s design that will elevate any space.
