Martinelli Luce "Ruspa" Table Lamp by Gae Aulenti, 1968 Gae Aulenti / Martinelli Luce / Italy Gae Aulenti, the acclaimed Italian designer, created the ‘Ruspa’ lamp for Martinelli Luce in 1967–68. Its name offers a clue to its inspiration: “Ruspa” means bulldozer, and Aulenti drew from the arm of an excavator she saw at a building site. The resulting design is highly sculptural and entirely original, with the vertical movement of the arm and the lamp’s head echoing the machinery that inspired it. The Ruspa is considered a landmark of Aulenti’s design work and is widely recognized as an early example of the Italian “Space Age” trend that deeply influenced design from 1968 to 1972. It is in original condition with age-appropriate signs of use and wear. item: L677 GAB price: $9,850.00 available: 1 size: 13 x 11.5 x 23
