Mid-Century Brass Ibex Rams Head Dining Table Bases After Alain Chervet

Details

Inspired by the celebrated sculptural works of Alain Chervet, this striking pair of mid-century modern brass ibex rams table bases transforms functional furniture into collectible art. Crafted in the United States during the 1970s, the bases feature elegantly elongated ram heads with dramatic spiral horns, meticulously detailed to capture the texture and rhythm of the animal's natural form. Every curve and contour has been thoughtfully executed, creating a commanding presence from every angle. The hand-worked brass showcases a rich naturally aged patina that enhances the sculptural quality while highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship. Intricate welded detailing along the segmented horns, expressive facial features, and fluid transitions between each element demonstrate the skill required to produce pieces of this complexity. Whether viewed as a pair of sculptures or supporting a custom glass top, they command attention through their artistry and scale. Alain Chervet became renowned for blending fine art with functional design, producing some of the most recognizable sculptural metal furniture of the late 20th century. These table bases capture that same spirit, making them an impressive alternative to original Chervet works. Exceptionally versatile, they can serve as the foundation for a dining table, executive desk, conference table, or statement console, while also standing alone as monumental decorative sculptures for both indoor and outdoor settings. More than furniture, they are conversation pieces that celebrate the intersection of sculpture, craftsmanship, and design.
