Details
A humble utilitarian object with incredible sculptural presence, this large wooden tray hails from the high Himalayas of Tibet. Carved or turned from a single piece of wood, it was originally used in a mountain household for kneading dough or serving communal meals. The piece features a shallow, consistent rim and a flat basin. It wears a later application of white paint that has been heavily distressed, revealing the dark, aged wood beneath. Its large, low profile is perfect for corralling smaller objects on a large ottoman or coffee table without blocking the view. • *Era: Vintage • *Size: 18.5“(D) x 3“(H) • *Material: Solid Wood / Turned Wood • *Color: Distressed White Paint over Dark Wood • *Form: Shallow Round Tray / Platter • *Style: Tibetan / Himalayan / Wabi-Sabi / Farmhouse • *Origin: Tibet • *Condition: Antique with heavy distressing to the paint and natural wear to the wood.
