The Sacred Pasture is a vibrant window into the pastoral poetry of Indian devotional art. This vintage Pichwai is hand-painted on cotton cloth, depicting Shrinathji, a manifestation of Krishna standing atop a lotus pedestal. He is surrounded by adoring gopis and a rhythmic procession of sacred cows, each marked with the traditional orange handprints of the Gopashtami festival. The artwork features a lush, forest-green ground and a highly detailed floral border, rendered in traditional mineral pigments. Professionally float-mounted to showcase the organic, deckled edges of the textile, the piece is encased in a contemporary solid oak frame. The clean lines of the oak provide a modern, architectural counterpoint to the intricate, storied needlework and painting of the Rajasthan tradition. Standing 42 inches tall, it is a significant focal point designed to bring a sense of spiritual abundance and historical texture to a modern home. As an authentic vintage textile, "The Sacred Pasture" is presented in its Original Vintage Condition. The cloth exhibits a beautiful, time-softened patina, including natural surface variations, subtle pigment fading, and a soft matte finish that serves as proof of its artisanal origins and storied history. • *Era: Mid-20th Century • *Size: 31" W x 1.5" D x 42" H • *Material: Hand-Painted Pigments on Cotton; Solid Oak Wood Frame; Glass • *Color: Multi • *Features: Detailed Shrinathji and Gopashtami iconography; traditional floral border; contemporary oak framing. • *Origin: Rajasthan, India (Nathdwara tradition) • *Condition: Original Vintage Condition.
