Hand-cast via ancient lost-wax molds, this rare miniature fragment represents a highly specialized category of sacred South Asian metalwork, isolating the expressive power of a divine hand gesture. The solid bronze sculpture portrays a deity’s hand elegantly configured in a complex mudra, with the index and pinky fingers extended upward while the central fingers curl dynamically inward to form a sacred geometric seal. Measuring just 3 inches tall including its pedestal, the casting carries an incredible tactile density and an organic, fluid silhouette that makes it look like a piece of modern abstract art. The hand is mounted to a small, dark block of wood in a delightfully raw, primitive manner, relying on a simple iron pin support that elevates the metal artifact into a serious gallery found object. Over decades of handling, the heavy alloy has aged into a magnificent dark chocolate and oil-rubbed bronze patina. Smooth, warm gold highlights catch the light across the curves of the knuckles, beautifully contrasting against the weathered, matte finish of the rustic timber base. It functions as an exceptionally high-signal conversational sculpture, bringing an instant layer of ancient storytelling, graphic line, and curated art history to a layered vanity tray, a modern modular bookshelf, or a styled desktop arrangement.
