Mid-Century Model J80 Oak Dining Chairs by Jorge Baekmark for FDB Mobler

Details

Designed by the celebrated Danish designer Jorgen Baekmark for FDB Mobler, this exceptional set of four Model J80 dining chairs embodies the philosophy that made Danish Modern design internationally admired: honest craftsmanship, high-quality materials, and timeless functionality. Created during the 1960s, the J80 remains one of Bækmark's most recognizable designs, prized for its graceful proportions and exceptional comfort. Each chair is expertly crafted from solid oak, beautifully refinished to reveal the warmth and natural character of the wood grain. The gently arched crest rail flows into six elegantly angled spindles, creating a sculptural silhouette that is both visually light and structurally strong. Every detail reflects the thoughtful simplicity for which Scandinavian furniture is renowned. The original handwoven cord seats remain in great condition, introducing a rich organic texture that complements the oak while showcasing the exceptional level of craftsmanship involved in their construction. The sturdy stretchers and finely turned legs provide lasting durability without compromising the chair's refined profile. Founded to produce beautifully designed furniture for everyday living, FDB Mobler became one of Denmark's most influential manufacturers, and Baekmark's designs remain among its most enduring achievements. More than six decades after their introduction, these Model J80 chairs continue to be sought after for their remarkable balance of comfort, craftsmanship, and enduring design, making them a lasting investment in authentic Danish Modern furniture.
