American sterling silver large ice tongs in a Medallion pattern by John Polhamus and retailed by Tiffany and Company, both of New York City, c.1865. The helmeted Greek Warrior on each side of the handle makes these useful and attractive tongs irresistible. The Eagle claw and shell bowls add to the appeal of these scarce tongs. Weighing 106 grams or 3.4 ozs. Troy, these very special tongs are 8" long. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
