Mid-Century Walnut & Lacquered Dresser by Milo Baughman for Glenn of California

Details

Mid-century modern two-tone dresser designed by Milo Baughman for Glenn of California in the United States during the 1950s. This striking design captures everything that made Baughman one of the defining voices of American modernism. Rich walnut drawer fronts are framed by a white polished lacquer case, creating a dramatic contrast that gives the dresser a clean appearance while emphasizing the beauty of its natural wood grain. Its six spacious dovetail drawers offer generous storage, each fitted with Baughman's signature steel pulls that provide a subtle metallic accent against the warmth of the walnut. The tapered walnut legs further lighten the silhouette, giving the piece an elegant sense of lift that has become synonymous with the finest mid-century furniture. The balance of warm wood, polished lacquer, and minimalist hardware creates a profile that is both bold and remarkably refined. Expertly refinished, the restoration highlights the dresser's original materials and craftsmanship while preserving the character that makes these early Glenn of California pieces so desirable. Milo Baughman's work for Glenn of California helped redefine postwar American furniture by proving that exceptional design could be sophisticated without unnecessary ornament. Decades later, this dresser remains one of his most recognizable expressions of that philosophy, combining timeless proportions, premium materials, and functional design into a piece that is as compelling today as it was when it first left the showroom.
