Fun Historical Fact The Model-2632 lounge chair was designed in the 1950s by Nanna and Jørgen Ditzel, part of the wave of Danish designers who helped define Scandinavian Modern aesthetics in the post-war era. Nanna Ditzel, educated as a cabinetmaker and trained at Copenhagen’s Royal Academy, was known for her belief that furniture should be as comfortable as it is beautiful — a radical departure from purely functional modernism. Fredericia Furniture, the manufacturer, played a central role in bringing many Danish Modern classics to market, collaborating with top designers of the time. Chairs like this one were celebrated for how they encouraged more relaxed, human-centric ways of sitting and living, influencing lounge seating design around the world.
