Details

English sterling silver candy box in a shape of a toffee can, made by William Comyns of London in 1908, it is a wonderful example of English whimsy. This unusual round box would also make a nice tea caddy or a really upscale paint can. On the front of the body, there is an engraved curly script monogram "GHG". Both body and lid are hallmarked. Retailer's mark "J. Comber. Goldsmith. Woking". Weighing 220.5 grams or 7.1 ozs Troy, this box is 3 1/2" tall and 3 1/4" in diameter. The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
