Danish Modern Walnut Lounge Chairs by Ib Kofod Larsen for Selig

Details

These exceptional Danish modern lounge chairs represent a masterful collaboration between renowned architect and furniture designer Ib Kofod-Larsen and Selig, dating to the 1960s. Each piece exemplifies the golden age of Scandinavian design, where form and function unite in perfect harmony. The architectural integrity of these chairs is immediately apparent in their meticulously crafted walnut frames. Rich in tone and grain, the walnut showcases the superior craftsmanship of mid-century furniture making. The distinctive grid design backrest serves as both a structural element and a striking visual feature, while intricate joinery details throughout the assembly demonstrate the precision and care invested in every aspect of construction. What sets this pair apart is that each chair features unique dimensions, allowing for individualized comfort—a thoughtful detail that speaks to the designer’s understanding of human ergonomics. The frames support cushions that have been professionally reupholstered in light gray fabric, creating a beautiful contrast with the warm walnut tones while maintaining the chairs’ timeless aesthetic. Each chair retains its original Selig manufacturer label, providing documented authenticity and connecting these pieces directly to their prestigious heritage. These chairs create an inviting atmosphere for relaxation and contemplation, the ideal spot to settle in with your favorite book, enjoying both exceptional comfort and the quiet beauty of masterful Danish design.
