Candleholder Square Stoneware Vibrant Blue Glaze Denmark Mid-Century Modern 1970s

Details

This minimalist Scandinavian studio ceramic candleholder features a crisp, geometric square silhouette balanced by rich organic texture. Designed to hold a standard taper candle, the piece frames its central socket with a brilliant, pool-like crystalline glaze in deep cobalt and vibrant turquoise blue. The striking pop of color sits beautifully within a coarse, unglazed border, highlighting the expert interplay of raw clay and vivid glaze work common in Danish design from the Mid-Century Modern 1970s. Crafted from heavy, high-fired stoneware, the holder is finished with a chocolate-brown unglazed exterior that brings out its earthy, tactile qualities. The underside showcases a clean finish, complete with an impressed "Denmark" map emblem stamp and a historical vintage retail paper label from "Frøsig Boghandel Vejle." An ideal accent for a cozy dining table setup, a fireplace mantel, or a bedside nightstand, this small piece functions wonderfully on its own or grouped as part of a modernist candle display. Its stark geometry and brilliant blue pool insert make it an easy fit for Danish modern, contemporary rustic, or eclectic bohemian interiors. 3.3"W × 3.3"D × 1"H Vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with use.
