English sterling silver bottle tag or label, having cutwork inscription "Port" and decorated with gadroon & shell border. Made by Charles Rawlings and William Summers, London 1838. This handsome tag is 1 3/4" long, 1" wide and weighs 12.8 grams or 0.41 ozs Troy. The length of chain is 6 1/2". The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing. The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering.
