Vintage Italian Modernist Lucite and Brass Coffee Table, 1970s

Details

A masterclass in material-driven design, this vintage Italian coffee table captures the bold yet refined aesthetic that made 1970s Italian furnishings so influential. Constructed from lucite tubing accented by polished brass joints and caps, the piece transforms simple geometric forms into something truly memorable. What makes this table particularly compelling is its balance of presence and transparency. The thick lucite framework gives the table a sculptural quality while maintaining a visual lightness that keeps surrounding furnishings in focus. The polished brass connectors introduce warmth and contrast, highlighting the precision of the construction and lending the piece an unmistakable sense of craftsmanship. The clean rectangular form is topped with glass, creating a seamless surface that appears to float above the structure. From every angle, the interplay between the transparent lucite and reflective brass creates subtle shifts in light, making the table feel dynamic throughout the day. Italian modernist furniture from this period was celebrated for elevating everyday objects into works of art, and this table is no exception. Its minimalist silhouette is balanced by luxurious materials, resulting in a piece that feels both cultivated and approachable.
