Vintage Italian Modern Botticino Marble Dining Table, 1970s

Details

Designed and manufactured in Italy during the 1970s, this Italian modern Botticino marble dining table exemplifies the sculptural approach to furniture that made Italian stone design internationally admired. During the postwar era, Italian artisans began elevating marble from a traditional architectural material into handcrafted furnishings, celebrating its natural beauty through clean forms, exceptional craftsmanship, and timeless design. The result was furniture that blurred the line between sculpture and function. Expertly handcrafted from Botticino marble, the table showcases a beautiful surface with softly rounded edges that highlight the stone's warm ivory tones, and delicate veining. Every slab is inherently one of a kind, revealing millions of years of geological formation that cannot be replicated. The substantial pedestal base provides remarkable stability while creating a bold architectural silhouette that allows the floating top to command attention from every angle. Its carefully balanced proportions demonstrate the precision and craftsmanship required to work with such a demanding natural material. More than five decades later, Italian marble furnishings remain among the most sought-after designs of the twentieth century. Their enduring appeal lies in the marriage of exceptional materials, artisan craftsmanship, and sculptural simplicity, qualities that continue to define luxury interiors today. Designed with practicality in mind, the marble top separates from the pedestal base for easier transportation and in-home placement.
